Research 1 at University of Colorado at Denver

Aurora, Colorado, USA

Research 1 at the University of Colorado Denver's Anschutz Campus is comprised of two linked buildings that house educational space, offices and laboratories.

University of Colorado at Denver moved its health sciences center from a 46-acre urban site to the new 216-acre Anschutz Medical Campus.  This offered the University an opportunity to create a fully state-of-the-art research center.

Research 1 is comprised of two linked buildings that house educational space, offices and laboratories. Internal flexibility allows researchers to customize their spaces as research requirements and needs evolve.  Meanwhile, the facility’s architecture is as forward-looking as the work being conducted within.  Metal detailing on the buildings’ glass curtainwalls accent the sleek design.  In addition, a sophisticated color palette is present in the brick and stonework. This design set a precedent for all future development on the campus.  Research 1 was designed in association with Kling Stubbins.
