H. MICHAEL SMITH, AIA, LEED AP
Principal, Director of Science and Technology
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career is working with researchers to develop facilities that enhance their ability to create scientific innovations through collaboration.
With over three decades of experience, Mike has devoted his entire career to the planning and design of facilities for health, science, and education. He has directed, managed, programmed, planned, and designed many notable projects, including academic and biomedical research and teaching laboratories, biotechnology and pharmaceutical research and development facilities, cleanrooms for microelectronics and medical device manufacture, and animal research facilities, among others. His hands-on knowledge and thought leadership allow him to be an effective client advocate throughout the entire project delivery process.
Mike is a recognized thought leader in the Science & Technology sector, consistently participating in conferences for trade organizations such as Tradeline, the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), the Association of University Research Parks (AURP), the Association of Independent Research Institutes (AIRI), and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Biomedical Research Institute (labiomed.org).
