When one of the world’s largest – and most popular – science centers wanted to incorporate the latest advances in science, technology and sustainability, it turned to Fentress Architects.
The phased expansion/renovation, which has resulted in the Gordon Wing to date, introduces these practices and strategies into the architecture and interactive exhibits while expanding the museum’s educational outreach to a broader national audience. The Gordon Wing, which overlooks the Charles River, houses a dramatic two-level space with 60, 10-foot-high windows, mezzanine offices, and innovative green elements. Boston’s best attended cultural attraction offers more than 700 interactive exhibits and is visited by 1.5 million people annually.
