Norfolk Courts Complex
Norfolk, Virginia, USA315,000 sfCompletion 2013
The Norfolk Consolidated Courts Complex will replace three outdated and unsafe courthouse facilities from the 1960s.
Located in the Civic Center Plaza, the eight-story building will combine the General District, Circuit, Juvenile & Domestic Relation Courts and associated Clerks and related agencies, contributing to the City’s goal for the urban revitalization of downtown Norfolk. The new combined courthouse will contain twenty-one courtrooms, along with all necessary support facilities, secure parking, and direct prisoner access to the existing jail. Co-locating the three courts will provide a safer, more secure and efficient building, while providing long term operational flexibility to accommodate the future growth needs of the courts.
The new building will be anchored in a landscaped civic plaza for use by both city employees and members of the public alike.
