About Dave
Dave Tidey, a Lead Designer and Senior Architect at Fentress Architects, brings a wealth of experience and a multifaceted approach to his role. His career with Fentress first began in 2005, where he laid the foundation for a career defined by creative vision and practical execution.
Growing up in Chicago, Dave’s passion for architecture was sparked by his mother’s enthusiasm for the city’s iconic architecture. Regular tours of Chicago’s innovative structures left a lasting impression, inspiring Dave to pursue a path where he could channel that passion into a profession. For him, being able to work in architecture is not just a job but a true gift.
Dave’s background as a Project Architect gives him a grounded and comprehensive perspective in his current design leadership role. His expertise lies in creating inspired solutions that are both visionary and constructible, respecting each stage of the design process and valuing collaboration as essential to achieving exceptional results. This belief has been central to his contributions on significant projects, such as the LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal, the SEA North Satellite Concourse, and the San Joaquin County Administration Building.
Aligned with the firm’s “Design for People” philosophy, Dave embodies the Touchstone™ “Stay Focused,” ensuring that the original design vision is upheld from concept through technical execution. His career of over 35 years has afforded him a depth of experience in all phases of project delivery, reinforcing the integrity of his design work.
Dave holds AIA and NCARB certifications and has been involved in architectural internships in Osaka, Japan with Takenaka Corporation. He also spent two years as a work-study participant at the Louis Kahn Archives during graduate school at the University of Pennsylvania. Dave is a proud father of three—identical twin sons and a daughter—and leads an active life in his Colorado community.
