Thom Walsh, AIA

Thom’s passion for architecture began at Brooklyn Technical High School in New York City, where he enrolled in a two-year architectural course after being captivated by the drawings and renderings displayed in the design studios. Since then, his love for problem-solving and the challenges of building has only grown, fueling a career that spans decades.

Throughout his time at Fentress Architects, Thom has worked on numerous notable projects, including the Passenger Terminal at DEN, The Passenger Terminal Complex at ICN, the Central Terminal Expansion at SEA, and Terminal C at MCO. For Thom, each project is like a cherished child, watching it evolve from an idea to a fully realized structure that serves people around the world. His design philosophy closely aligns with the firm’s “Design for People” approach, particularly in airport terminals, which are inherently people-centric spaces. Thom also closely resonates with the Touchstone™ “Listen Closely,” a principle he believes is key to learning and creating impactful designs.

Outside of Fentress, Thom is active in the local chapters of AIA and the Denver Architecture Foundation. He also has a unique connection to wildlife conservation, having spent two weeks working on rhino conservation efforts in South Africa with the International Rhino Foundation. In his personal time, Thom volunteers with the Montclair Historical Society, contributing to his community in a meaningful way while continuing to pursue his passion for architecture and design.
