Seeking to create a unique and memorable image for the Arraya Centre, a Kuwait City institution, the client selected Fentress Architects to transform the complex and establish a striking presence on the skyline.
A full-height glass tower wrapped by diagonal steel elements displays a dynamic façade, while an integrated limestone-clad mass recalls the architectural vocabulary of the existing mixed-use complex. Crowned by an angled telecommunications mast, the 60-story Class-A office tower is the tallest building in Kuwait and the world’s 4th tallest completed in 2009, as declared by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat. An impetus for revitalization in an older neighborhood, the Office Tower joined the Arraya Commercial Complex to become the visionary seed project for the significant development of Kuwait City’s new “downtown” business district.
