The new 1,500-seat sanctuary is Metro Denver’s largest domed building.
Mile Hi Church needed to accommodate a rapidly growing, 5,500-plus congregation. So, Fentress created a design utilizing an innovative fabric roof membrane. The dome was inflated, insulated and reinforced with steel rebar. Then, a concrete application completed the structure.
The sanctuary features an event-sized stage. It is also outfitted with raked theater seating and state-of-the-art AV and lighting equipment. The cutting-edge and energy-efficient venue is ideal for worship services as well as performances.
Prevalent throughout the design are symbolic elements such as a Vesica Piscis and an “all seeing eye.” These may be found as a hidden narrative in the campus master plan, which includes a 600-seat balcony and a chapel. They also guided site selection, and are featured motifs repeated in floor plans and ceiling design.
