About Ned

An independent art study program during high school sparked Ned’s interest in architecture.  Attendance at a Rhode Island School of Design summer session furthered this interest.  During a subsequent trip to New York, Ned was struck by the contrast between the Citicorp Center and nearby St. Peter’s Church.  At that point, he committed to creating spaces that are both beautiful in detail and monumental in scale. Ned continues to find architecture to be the natural culmination of his two great passions: art and science.

Throughout his tenure at Fentress Architects, Ned has made significant contributions to many landmark projects. Clark County Government Center in Las Vegas holds a special place in his heart as one of the most architecturally creative places of its kind. Ned’s expertise in high-performance glazed façades was showcased with projects like the Central Terminal at SEA, launching a specialty that he would further refine in later works, such as the Denver Art Museum’s Sie Welcome Center.

Ned seeks to balance ambitious architectural expressions with practical functionality.  He routinely ensures even the boldest designs serve their constituents. As a Project Manager, the Touchstone™ “Listen Closely” resonates most with him.  He enjoys synthesizing diverse stakeholder inputs and is inspired to ensure projects are realized without compromise.

Outside the firm, Ned is deeply involved in the architectural community.  He serves in various leadership roles within the AIA and similar organizations. As a frequent speaker, he enjoys sharing his insights and expertise on topics such as façade design and high-performance skins. Beyond his professional life, Ned is an artisanal naturally leavened bread baker.  Additionally, he is a founding member of Friends of Man, which provides direct assistance to those in need.
