Broncos Stadium at Mile High

Denver, Colorado, USA

Designed as a spirited civic space within a park, Sports Authority Field looks to the future while maintaining key traditions of the former Mile High Stadium.

The new, forward-thinking Mile High Stadium replaced the Denver Broncos’ beloved home of nearly 50 years.  The design maintains the “Broncos Experience” with the help of several key details, which include a horseshoe-shaped bowl.  Close proximity of seats to the field was also retained.  Likewise, the new stadium features steel treads, which fans are renown for using to create “Rocky Mountain Thunder.”  Officials selected HNTB Architecture and Fentress Architects to design the 14-story, 76,000-seat venue, which became an instant Denver landmark.
